Here's to WAH WAH WAH

[it's a duck noise, like quack quack quack]
don't ask.

i am all about the reusable lifestyle.
i like my reusuable bags from whole food.
i'm a sucker for this whole eco-friendly world.

you always see hot tumblers for hot drinks,
but you never see cold drink ones.
i am going to go get me one of these man.
but smoothies in them.

and you see, if i dont live in california,
i am going to live in boston.
and become a red sox fan.
this is because i think it's so cool how they have
unity, everybody is red sox fan and you hate the yankees,
[but i do have a yankees hat, go figure]
it's chill because everybody is a red sox fan period.
in california, let alone the bay area, we have one too
many teams. A's and the Giants. i can't hang.
i need one team, and one team to hate.
and i want to have a house on cape cod or in nantucket.
come play with your families.
so, i want/need a jersey.

but i suppose i need some roots. the a's are closer,
but the giants have a better park. yo
and i like zito, barry zito. but if it's anything worth
mentioning, he did use to play on the a's.

done with the midterms, we'll see how i did.
wishing...and hoping...and praying.

[swipper no swipping]

i know, i am weird. i dont like feet either.
but i like the colors.

happy twosday.

Here's to David Stern

So it's that time of the year...NBA Playoffs

I used to love watch the playoffs with my dad, but now it's just boring. Not because of my dad or anything but because of a man named David Stern.

...Always trying to make money. I can't blame him or anyone. I mean all of us are trying to make a living but I am sure David Stern makes enough money already. I mean fining kiddies for this and that.

But really we all know why the playoffs are best of 7 series...more money.

I think the NBA Playoffs should be like the NCAA but I suppose with a smaller bracket. Or maybe even a best of 3 series. You play 7 games, you can fuck up the first 3 and win the next 4. Where does the actual playing begin? It should start from the first tip-off till that buzzer sounds at the end of the fourth quarter.

Did any of you watch the Utah v. LA game tonight? Utah just gave up. In March Madness...you play the entire game, whether you're down 25...20...or 15. You play till the end.

David Stern...let's play some basketball.

Here's to Saving the Polar Bear

Apparently, I love grocery shopping, especially at Whole Foods Market.
So they just opened up (end of last quarter) one in Santa Cruz.
- On Soquel near Branciforte Ave.
And the image below isn't the one in Santa Cruz.
It's the one in Austin, Texas - their main one.
Apparently, there is an ice skating rink inside or something
- Texas kids, go figure.
I love New Leaf too. It's not as big as Whole Foods but still get that organic feel.
- On Fair Ave. off of Swift

You should definitely go check them out. Ask me, I'd love to take you!

Detoxing
_not on purpose or anything like that. It just happens. And I guess you can say I am okay with that. I feel healthier. I am not yak-ing as much. Which is always a good thing.

Oh and we made this pizza last night! Hella good!

SantaCruz Park Card

Since, I am not really used to feeding the meters, and all.
Going downtown in Santa Cruz, is sort of a bitch. You can't always find parking in that garage near Urban Outfitters, so you get stuck feeding the meters. These gives me many problems:
1. Parallel Parking
2. Finding quarters, because nickels and dimes don't do anything.
3. I feel like I got jipped if I don't use all the time.

So I heard about this ParkCard thing for the SC Meters.
You just stick the card into the meter, - normally for the max.
If you come back and there is more than 1 minute left,
you just stick your card back in and it refunds the total.
NEATO!

the beeEFF and I went to go see disney earth!

i never really watched planet earth and now i wish i had.
it's okay when i get a blu-ray player,
i am going to buy disney earth and just sit all day and watch
animals. i love animals.
and i love disney.
i am not sure if its worth the 9.75 for you, but i liked it. but it was cool because it was at the del mar theater downtown and thats super old school. it was fun. beeEFF and i might have been the youngest people there minus the kids who came with their parents.

Here's to March

March Madness
1. the three best weekends of basketball
I really thing if you're not someone who is interested in basketball, I really think you should take a look at the 65 teams that play in the Big Dance.
In my opinion, I think it's some of the best basketball you'll watch. These students (yes, when it comes down to it, they are still students in college) play their heart out. It's not like the NBA where they are playing for money. These NCAA Men's Basketball players are playing "for-real" basketball. I am not sure how I else I can put it, but it's true. You play to keep your season alive. Because it's not like the NBA where you play a best of 7 series, where a team can eff it up one night. No, in the NCAA if you don't have a good night, say goodbye to the rest of your season.
2. making brackets.
Sometimes, I wouldn't past me to say I have a gambling/competition problem. But march madness, is also about Selection Sunday and making a bracket. And betting!
But stupid Stephanie this year forgot to pick a championship in on of her brackets. FML moment

April is right around the corner.

Here's to the Internet

I just thought you should know. BTDUBS.
Dora the Explorer is All Grown Up

"We give her cute, colorful clothing from Forever21, she wears black clothing with skull prints. We give her playful make-up and jewelry, she puts on black eyeliner and earrings with daggers on them.”

Hydration Calculator
figure out if you're drinking enough water.
http://www.bottledwater.org/public/hydratio_main.htm

Interesting Things about Bottled Water
1. There is actually an organization called the International Bottled Water Association. Don’t believe me? Go to bottledwater.org and check it out. There you will find helpful things like a Hydration Calculator where you can enter your weight and how much you exercise to find out just how much water (bottled, of course) you should be consuming on a daily basis.

2. How many people—as of 2008—were assigned in the United States to monitor the quality of bottled water? One. No, not 100. Certainly not 1,000. Just one. Every bottle of water in the country might as well have a stamp that says “Approved by Bob.”

3. Not everyone, but certain people, feel the need, when holding a bottle of water, to constantly open it and swig small amounts instead of taking an actual normal-size drink. When filling up your gas tank, do you fill it up in increments of 17 cents? Neither do I. Just drink the thing already.

4. The bottles. According to Senate testimony by representatives from the National Resources Defense Council, we (earthlings) go through an estimated 60 billion bottles of water per year. That comes down to nearly 160 bottles for every single person in the United States. With numbers like that I am amazed that we don’t have to invent some sort of snow-plow like vehicle to clear the bottles from the streets. What’s the number for the patent office?

5. Every time my wife and I are at the store, she buys a new bottle of water. Don’t get me wrong, I want her to be properly hydrated. I know it’s good for her skin and her kidneys and everything else. But when we get home, it’s an absolute guarantee that there will be a minimum of two half-empty bottles already waiting in the fridge.

6. Like coal, oil, and every other natural resource, there really is only so much of this stuff to go around. Once it’s gone, we’ll have to start resorting to seawater, which the last time I checked, isn’t drinkable. I can’t help thinking about that scene in Waterworld when Kevin Costner is drinking his own urine. No thank you. So not only will we run out of water, we won’t have any oil to make the bottles either. It’s a vicious cycle.

7. Water that tries to be more than water. From water with caffeine to water with vitamins, you can get your bottled water spiked with just about anything these days. Feeling a little intellectually inferior, there is even a water that can help you feel smarter. It says it right there on the label. My question is this, where does it stop? Will hyperactive children be able to get a Ritalin-infused water at some point? If we’re willing to try anything, I have a suggestion: Orgasm Water. If we’re already getting screwed, we might as well enjoy it.

8. One of my favorite things to do is watch people at the grocery store. Beyond the DMV and the post office, there are few places better to see such a wide sampling of people from your entire community. Outside of the high-end grocery stores which are economically segregated, your average neighborhood store is likely to be filled with people from every race, creed, and tax bracket you can think of. One of the things I notice often is the fact that bottled water is the only acceptable item to start consuming before it’s paid for. The couple with the pedometers and the matching track suits just can’t wait. We wouldn’t want them fainting in the middle of the store, right? Let’s try something. Next time you’re at the store, take a can opener and start eating a can of pinto beans as you wait in line to pay. See how well that goes over.

9. Every now and then I go into some random place of business with a posted sign that clearly reads, “No Food or Drink.” On the odd chance that I have a beverage in hand, I either take it back to the car or I throw it away before entering the building. Somehow this rule doesn’t apply to bottled water enthusiasts. And God forbid some innocent part-time worker makes them aware of said rule. I have seen a woman argue for five minutes about how she “needs” her water for “health reasons.” If you are in need of fluids that badly, why are you looking for high heels at T.J. Max and not hooked up to an IV at the hospital? Ridiculous.

10. You can get this stuff for free. What’s next, bottled air?

Yeah it's weird, I have been into water. I am not sure why. But you should know!

Here's to the City of Los Angeles

I suppose every year this weekend, I come down to SoCal. But it's sort of weird and I suppose somewhat interesting how times change. It's not that it's a bad thing or it's a good thing. Just times change.

On the boring front of my life, school has started. Or let me repharse that, classes and instruction has begun. I suppose school or class hasn't exactly begun for me. I have been eating out a lot. A whole lot of sushi - Sushi Totoro with Bob's kids, I <3 Sushi with KAMP family, Kianti & Cafe Brasil with the housemates, Falafel and Thai with Robbie, Mission Taqueiria with GeOff. Yeah all in like the first two weeks and now I am in LA! WHATTHEFACK. Oh and if you didn't know I'm currently employed. I no longer work at Paper-Source. I am hoping to working somewhere in Santa Cruz.

Oh! So the reason why this blog goes out to the City of Los Angeles is the goddamn city has taken away a good chunk of my money. With feeding the meters on the street and paying for parking at malls. Oh and the worst part is paying for parking at UCLA. At the end of this trip I will have spent 32 dollars on parking. This includes having to wake up at 630 in the morning to add more money. Grrrr

friDAY_
1230pm-600pm: on the road to LA
dinner at don antonio's for kevinO's birfday

Here's to Sandy* and that One Time at Great America

It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are. ~Roy Disney

I always feel that when people complain about something, they can do something about it.
(I know I complain.)

At the end of every summer session, there would always be a trip to Great America or Marine World (Yes, It used to be called Marine Worlds.) And I remember this one time specifically with this one girl named Sandy*. All she did was complain about how thirsty she was the entire day! This just gets me - how are you going to complain the entire day about being thirsty when there are plenty of drink stands, food courts, soda machines, and water fountains all around Great America?

I hate people who complain when they can do something about it. Okay, not hate. Hate is too strong of a word. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

So I am trying to start with myself. If I can change the situation, then I will.

Right? I hope this makes sense.
